Cactus Venture Partners closes maiden fund at $76M
Cactus Venture Partners, an India-based venture capital firm, makes an impressive foray into the funding arena as CVP's inaugural fund secures over $76M.
Investor Composition: Predominantly Indian investors, with 60% being domestic limited partners, form the backbone of the fund's base. Development financial institutions like SIDBI, Self-Reliant India Fund, and the UP Startup Fund are among the key domestic investors.
Strategic Investment Focus: The firm expresses a keen interest in pioneering sectors: climate tech, health tech, and B2B SaaS companies. Despite these inclinations toward specific sectors, CVP maintains a wide-ranging sector focus.
Target Investment Stage: Startups in their Series A and early Series B stages are CVP's prime candidates for investment.
Current Portfolio: With five companies under its belt, including the cleantech venture Lohum and the fashion brand AMPM, CVP is geared up for expansion.
Future Aspirations: Planning for 8 to 10 new investments within the next 1-2 years, the focus will notably be on Indian startups while also keeping an eye toward international growth opportunities.
The fund's general partners bring a wealth of experience and vision, with Amit Sharma (formerly of Alibaba-backed eWTP Capital), Anurag Goel, and ex-investment banker Rajeev Kalambi at the lead.
