Nvidia and Indonesian telco Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison are collaborating to establish an AI center in Surakarta, Central Java, with construction expected to begin this year.

  • Investment Commitment: Both companies are committing US$200 million to build the center's infrastructure and develop human resources.

  • Education Initiative: In January 2022, Nvidia signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian government to train lecturers and over 20,000 university students in AI skills over five years.

  • Market Expansion: Nvidia's focus on Southeast Asia has intensified as it experiences record revenues driven by generative AI demand, setting plans and partnerships in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam.

As Nvidia expands its presence in Southeast Asia, the partnership with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison marks a significant step towards advancing AI capabilities in Indonesia. With a focus on education and infrastructure development, the AI center in Surakarta is poised to drive innovation and support the growth of AI talent in the region.
