Uber Eats and Gogoro partner in Taiwan for $30M green program

Gogoro Inc. announced a partnership with Uber Eats. This $30M Green Delivery Program aims to encourage Uber Eats delivery partners to transition to electric scooters. The funding for the two-year initiative comes from both parties involved.

  • Two-Party Benefits: Uber Eats delivery partners will benefit from discounts on Gogoro Smartscooters and battery-swapping programs. They'll also receive incentives for making deliveries using the Gogoro Smartscooters.

  • End Goal: The goal of this program is to increase the percentage of electric vehicle (EV) deliveries in Taiwan. The anticipated rise is from the current 20% to 40% by the end of 2025. The partnership is a step towards a more sustainable urban transportation system, according to Gogoro's Founder and CEO, Horace Luke. The idea is to lower the barriers for Uber Eats riders, allowing them to conveniently switch to sustainable electric transportation.

  • Sustainable Systems: Chai Lee, the General Manager of Uber Eats Taiwan, highlighted the willingness of delivery partners to embrace Gogoro's EV scooters and smart battery-swapping technology. This partnership aims to boost this trend, contributing to cleaner air in cities across Taiwan.

  • Past Programs: Gogoro, since its establishment in 2011, has been actively involved in providing sustainable mobility solutions. Their network in Taiwan offers support to nearly 600,000 riders and operates over 12,000 battery-swapping stations across more than 2,500 locations. The company has already conducted 510 million total battery swaps, saving over 785,000 tons of CO2 emissions since 2015.

Gogoro's have resulted in millions of battery swaps, leading to significant reductions in CO2 emissions. On the other hand, Uber Eats has established itself as a global on-demand delivery platform, connecting millions of customers with a wide range of restaurants and merchants across the world. These companies exemplify the impact of innovative solutions and the power of technology in shaping the future of transportation and food services.G
